About Us

Leading the field since 1999, Stanford CTEL/CLAD Program began with a federally funded project with San Francisco Unified School District providing face-to-face, high-quality courses to provide the California certificate to teach English learners (CLAD). Gradually, our professors created key video content and experimented with on-line learning. We received CTEL accreditation in January 2008, one of the first seven universities in the state to be granted this designation. Over the years, we have improved on the product through feedback from our teachers, and we are now proud to offer you state-of-the-art content and instruction.

  • From its inception in 1999, our program was developed in collaboration with SFUSD and is grounded in real practice.
  • We have provided coursework for the CLAD online since 2003, graduating over 450 teachers.
  • Our partners include Greenfield USD, Juneau, Alaska, Long Beach USD, Los Angeles USD, Modesto City Schools, Oakland USD, San Francisco USD, & Santa Clara County USD.
